EuroPoint: A Blog about European Cultural, Economic, and Political Issues @ Globality Studies Journal

Reporting about the European Union (EU) in the United States is crisis-driven and one-sided. Thus, the sovereign debt woes emanating from countries like Greece, Portugal, Spain, and Italy, or the recent horse-meat scandal, are well known in the U.S., yet the European discussion is largely unknown.

If, for instance, an Op-Ed columnist for The New York Times is a winner of the Nobel Prize in economics and also a sharp critic of the European currency union, as Paul Krugman happens to be, the educated public in the U.S. will not have a full understanding of how the euro is debated in the EU.

By giving the EU a fair hearing, providing information about and perspectives on EU trends, regional policy debates and cultural events, EuroPoint will provide a service for the English reading public in the United States and around the world.
